In July, I blogged about using Adeona to track stolen laptops.
A user at Mac OS X Hints recently posted a more advanced method to track stolen Macs. It requires a lot of scripting work and your own server though. But if you're a DIY type, this might appeal to you more than Adeona.

This is one area where Apple should really step up to the plate. Dell has a nice built-in system for tracking stolen laptops. They track when someone calls in with your service tag. The question is, do people that steal laptops call in for support? I'll bet they are foolish enough to do so.
That's a great point. Perhaps Dell is anticipating that the people who stole the laptops will sell it off on eBay quickly.. and it's probably the "end-users" who bought it off eBay who will call for support.
